A discussion based on Being Mortal, an exploration of the experiences of aging, by Atul Gawande. Dr. Gawande is a gerontologist and surgeon who treats his patients with the same expert, loving care as he does his family members. Learn the stories of actual people, including Dr. Gawande’s grandparents and parents, as they navigate the alternatives of living style and care at the end of life. Explore how we can better, more joyfully, and effectively make our wishes known, realistic, and spiritually rich. So much depends on how we embrace the work of Being Mortal.
The book is full of gentle humor, but not always a pleasant read, however, it is essential to “hear” Dr. Gawande’s words. Please read the introduction and first two chapters before the first session. Our facilitator, Cecilie (Cece) Bodnar brings her extensive experience in adult learning and spiritual companioning.
