Watercolor Week with Kristin Malone, June 13-16, 2023

Artist Kristin Malone will present two workshops at Cobblestone this summer. She has been a teacher in the visual arts since graduating from Nazareth College of Rochester and receiving her Masters in Art Education from Buffalo State. Kristin is a native of Elmira, New York, and is always inspired by the landscape of the western New York Finger Lakes.

Artist Kristin Malone returns to Cobblestone in June to continue her painting and to assist participants in developing their creative skills. Kristin is a versatile artist who lives and works in Rochester, New York; her previous programs at Cobblestone Springs have been popular and memorable.

Learn something new, or refresh your skills, with Kristin during her “watercolor week,” a chance to focus on this medium! Please contact cobblestonespringsrc@gmail.com or call 607-243-8212 to register. Fee for each program session is $70; you may choose to do either or both of the day-long programs.

Meet the Artist: Tuesday, June 13, 2 to 5 p.m.
Cobblestone will host an open house for Kristin, a great opportunity to talk
about art, ask questions, and check out Cobblestone’s picture-worthy spaces.
Kristin may also bring paintings and offer an impromptu “trunk sale.”

WATERCOLOR: KEEPING IT SIMPLE

Painting with watercolor can be quick, spontaneous, and pretty simple. It can also be complex, labored, and take significant time. In two one-day workshops, we will attempt to learn and practice while keeping it simple, relaxing, and fun. Participants may be new to this medium or to expression in any art form, or may have experience with watercolor but, like the presenter, may be striving to keep it uncomplicated and fresh.

June 14 and June 15, $70 per person per day
Limited to 10 participants each day; sign up for either or both days. Please register with 50% deposit by June 7 to ensure a spot. One-on-one assistance will be available both days as you work on your choice of subject matter. Please bring your own lunch; coffee and tea will be provided.

  • Day One (Wednesday, June 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Includes basics of watercolor: materials, approaches, examples, and demonstrations, along with practice.
  • Day Two (Thursday, June 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Focuses on various approaches and considerations when drawing or painting landscapes.
  • Open Studio (Friday, June 16, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
Participants may stay and paint side-by-side with Kristin. She welcomes you to “hang out” and paint at this beautiful place we call Cobblestone Springs! No fee for this extra day.

STAY THE NIGHT: Cobblestone Springs is offering a 20% discount for participants staying overnight. Single rooms $60 per night. If you’re attending with a friend, ask about shared accommodations.
